1/4 Of UK Households Own A Games Console

23% of all UK households own at least one games console, a recent study indicates.MCV reports that Harris Interactive conducted a study, titled Fast Forward, both in November of last year and February of this year, in which it questioned 2,000 UK residents.Apparently, games spending has gone up in the intervening period, with the Wii seeing a 5% increase in ownership, according to those questioned. This has resulted in Harris claiming that 23% of UK households now contain a games console.According to Harris Interactive’s research director, Steve Evans, “Brits have been taking advantage of the heavily discounted sales both before Christmas and in the first part of 2009.”The economic crisis is perhaps one reason for this increased spending on consoles. “It seems that the investment in home entertainment will mean people saving money by staying in, and preparing for some tough months ahead,” commented Evans.
