Judging by past trends, there are few things that work so well in games as Nazis, zombies, and a combination of the two. About all that’s needed now is for a game which lets you battle Nazis and zombies in some sort of modern combat setting.
Sadly, that’s not what happens in Rebellion’s Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army 2, shockingly announced today after being very obviously teased yesterday. Instead, you’ll once again be taking control of Karl Fairburne and his three allies as they head back into World War 2-era Berlin in order to stop the occult menace “once and for all.” Until the next sequel, at least.
According to Rebellion’s “head of creative” Tim Jones, there’ll be new enemies and environments to battle against and through. “We really wanted to heighten the demonic, nightmarish tones of the first game,” said Jones. “The environments, the levels, the soundtrack all give a strong feeling of descent – each encounter, each level becoming progressively more hellish.”
“Most importantly though, we’ve expanded the legions of Nazi undead with some really intimidating new enemies which we’ll reveal soon.”
We sort of liked the first game in the spin-off series, and you can have a look at our IncGamers Plays video of the three of us shooting zombies in the head right here.
Nazi Zombie Army 2 is due out on PC later this year, which is actually slightly more surprising than the announcement itself.
