343 Industries and SkyBox Labs go co-op mode for Halo Infinite

343 Industries and SkyBox Labs are joining forces for the development of Halo Infinite, it was announced via press release earlier today. SkyBox will have a hand in “AI, gameplay, networking, and cutting-edge graphics features.”

The colorfully vibrant Halo Infinite, the next chapter in Master Chief’s storied adventure, was shown off for the first time this year at Microsoft’s press conference during E3. The game clearly gives a strong nod toward the bright and clean visuals of Halo: Combat Evolved–a game that hit the Xbox way back in 2001.

“Seeing the new art style and the return of the Master Chief, combined with the technology of the Slipspace Engine, has our studio energized and focused on teaming up with our partners at 343 Industries to realize the vision of Halo Infinite,” said Steven Silvester, Co-founder, SkyBox Labs.

The partnership isn’t too surprising, considering that SkyBox has already assisted the Halo team. The company helped with the development of Halo 5: Forge for Windows 10, and was behind the Xbox One X enhancements for Halo 5: Guardians.

“We have been working closely with 343 Industries on Halo projects for a number of years, and we’re thrilled to be part of this exciting time in Halo’s history,” said Shyang Kong, Co-founder, SkyBox Labs.

SkyBox reports that the company has nearly doubled in size since last year, and is gearing most of its 100-member staff toward the development of Halo Infinite. The game doesn’t yet have a release date, but it will be available on both Xbox One and PC.
