It’s time for another Kickstarter and this time it comes courtesy of 8Bit-Studio who are creating  a multiplayer online MOBA title with a focus on combat and it’s called Skara – The Blade Remains.

The game is set in what 8Bit describe as a “world torn apart by cataclysmic events” and features five races to choose from, each with their own fighting styles. 8Bit are aiming for a cross between World of Warcraft, Call of Duty and Streetfighter, which is a bizarre description, but we sort of get what they’re aiming for with this one.

As this is an online title, the idea is to make the game competitive with leaderboards and the game’s currency called  honour points will unlock new game features and better weapons as players progress.

Having already done a lot of the early work on the game with their own funds which they scraped together from friends and family, they are now Kickstarting the game to get the final funding in place. The aim is to release a beta version by the end of the year.

The game is pretty stylish and they even have their own calligraphy expert at the studio where he’s creating some pretty swish looking text. The visuals are actually quite impressive based on what they’ve shown of the game so far. Co-founders Pablo Rodriguez and Cesar Ortega started working on the project in 2009 and Ortega sounds pretty hyped about the game concept adding: “In Skara, we are creating a game that we would love to play.”

In case you were wondering about pricing, this will be free to play and you can go ahead and back the game now on Kickstarter if you like what you see. The Kickstarter goal is currently set at $150,000 and there’s 24 days to raise the funds.
