Sledgehammer Working on Modern Warfare 3?

Modern Warfare 3 has not been announced but there’s no doubt it will be arriving at some point, and the rumour mill is turning again thanks to an article on the L.A Times.
The article reports that Sledgehammer Games are working on the single player portion of the unannounced Modern Warfare 3 alongside the now restructured Infinity Ward. Raven also appear to be behind the game’s multiplayer which has also been indicated by a recent job posting by the company.
The L.A Times source is cited as “people familiar with the situation” and the article also mentions that the team has been “recruited away from Activision’s rival Electronic Arts Inc”.
This latest update follows a job posting last week from Sledgehammer who is apparently looking for “a new Community Manager to ‘drive the effort for Sledgehammer and the next Call of Duty game”.
Sledgehammer was originally working on an action adventure based on the Call of Duty franchise which was announced by Activision Publishing president and CEO Mike Griffith in March 2010. However, in May 2010 Sledgehammer appeared to have moved onto working on an FPS following another job posting by the company which indicates they’ve been working on the new FPS for some time now.
While there has been no official word regarding Modern Warfare 3, Activision declined to comment on the rumour, we are guessing that we could see a release this November which appears to be Activision’s new CoD title release window. Perhaps we’ll hear more before E3 this year.
