Carmageddon: Reincarnation announced by original developers

Developers Stainless Games have reacquired the Carmageddon license from Square Enix and are moving ahead with Carmageddon: Reincarnation (geddit? ReinCARnation … no? Fine).
Stainless created the series and released Carmageddon and Carmageddon 2 in the late 90s, to much hilarious controversy (thanks to the game’s focus on running people over in an automobile). It’s almost as if nobody in the media had seen Deathrace 2000 before.
Reincarnation is in “the early stages of pre-production” at present, so as you can imagine there’s not a whole lot to go on other than the title’s existence. It’s planned as a digital release, and previous Stainless games have come out on PC, Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. So those platforms seem quite likely.
Stainless’ Neil Barnden insists that “Carmageddon: Reincarnation will feature the same black humour and comic violence that made the original game such a success.” While fellow Stainlessite Patrick “Batwick” Buckland has an entertaining blog post up on the Carmageddon site, looking back over the series.
