Deus Ex: Human Revolution team visits the firing range

Some of the fruits from the Deus Ex: Human Revolution Facebook bribery tree have begun to fall, including this ‘behind the scenes’ footage of the Eidos Montreal team visiting a shooting range.
Watch, as the developers learn how a gun feels in their hands, what it means to experience recoil, and how it feels to kill a man in cold blood (ok, not that last one). According to the video testimonials, this little jaunt resulted in the team reworking their gun animations to be more accurate.

There’s also an unrelated piece of shameless marketing which shows you a bunch of stuff you get with the ‘Collectors Edition’ of the game. Remember when all this guff was included inside every box, for everyone? Yeah, me neither. That age is long dead.
Amusingly enough, both videos use exactly the same piece of music; the cool Michael McCann piece from one of the original CG trailers. It makes both a visit to a shooting range and slow pans over art books seem awfully intense.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was delayed until August, so you can expect a lot more promotional stuff between now and then. It’ll be available for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
For some slightly more substantive details about the game, have a read of our Q&A with Eidos Montreal’s Jean Francois Dugas and/or a chat with the art director.
