Two Armas and a leg: Arma III announced

Devotees of realistic soldier-simming would be whooping with delight about Bohemia Interative’s announcement of Arma III, if it didn’t risk blowing their cover.
The third in the series is coming to the PC next summer, and will be set on an unnamed Mediterranean island “deep behind enemy lines.” Why are you there? As a member of NATO embarking on ‘Operation Magnitude’; a top secret special ops jaunt to grab some vital military data and swing the tide of the war back in Europe’s favour.
It might be time to bust open the piggy bank again too, because Bohemia are basing this game on the latest generation of their “Real Virtuality” engine. And I remember Arma II already being pretty demanding back in 2009.
Naturally, there’ll be both a single player campaign and various multiplayer options available (including both co-op and competitive). Not to mention a huge array of military weaponry, vehicles to drive (and fly) and even, if the following screenshots are to be believed, a touch of underwater diving. Bohemia add that the game will be just as moddable as the previous entries in the series.
You can read all about the good/bad/interesting time I had with Arma II, here.
