Daniel Kaplan, from Minecraft developers Mojang Specifications, has expressed a desire for the company to co-publish other indie titles and expand to console releases.
“We’re looking into publishing our own games … bringing indie games under our own brand,” Kaplan said. “We’re still having to figure out how that’s going to work out [but] we hope to have something out this fall at least.”
“We’re always looking for new platforms, and consoles are very interesting for us, obviously. There are huge possibilities for us there,” he added.
Even taking into account the success of Minecraft, this is all fairly extraordinary as Mojang haven’t actually released a full game of their own at this point. Minecraft is due for release on 11 November and the developer’s other game, Scrolls, is still in the works.
