Crytek Reject EA’s Online Pass

Crysis 2 will not make any use of EA’s ‘Online Pass’ scheme, as Crytek has opted to reject the publisher’s offer to include it as part of their forthcoming title.
This information comes from a GamerTagRadio piece that’s actually a few days old, but is today beginning to filter into other gaming news outlets. According to the article, Crytek explained that they chose not to make use of the Online Pass as they wanted as many players as possible to have access to Crysis 2’s multiplayer – particularly console players, for whom Crysis 2 may well be their first Crysis title.
EA’s Online Pass operates by giving away an access code to multiplayer and other bonus features with every retail version of a title (as part of the asking price.) Anybody picking up the game used, however, has to pay an additional $10.00 USD for a new ‘pass’ code.
Crysis 2 is due for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on 22 March (US)/25 March (EU.) A multiplayer demo of the game is available today for Xbox 360 and PC users.
