As the Just Cause 2 developer is preparing for the launch of its open world action sequel, the game’s lead designer Peter Johansson told IncGamers that Avalanche is already hard at work on its next title.

“We’re already working on other stuff at the moment,” he said.

“The IP (Just Cause), of course, is owned by Square Enix so we’ll see what happens in the future.  You know how it is, we can’t talk about it at the moment. It’s going to be interesting stuff as well.”

When pressed on whether the studio’s next title will be another open world game, Johansson hinted that the team may try something different.

“Not necessarily….we’ll see what happens,” he said.

“We haven’t said that we would only work on open world games and we’ll adapt the engine to whatever the requirements of that game is [sic].”

“It’s not a puzzle game,” he joked.

Stay tuned for the full interview with Johansson and be sure to check out the hefty demo for the game, now available on PSN and Xbox LIVE.
