Battlefield 3 week one sales better than all other Battlefields combined

17 Battlefield games since 2002, Battlefield 3 betters them all.
GfK Chart-Track, the organisation in charge of compiling sales lists in the UK, has revealed that Battlefield 3’s week one sales are better than the combined week one numbers of every other Battlefield game combined.
That’s some achievement considering that there have been 17 Battlefield games since the 2002 release of Battlefield 1942, including the very respectable numbers put up by the console-focused Battlefield: Bad Company 1 and 2.
Battlefield 3 is currently sitting atop the UK charts.
The reason for this is surely largely down to the aggressive marketing campaign deployed by publisher EA. Said campaign has focused on positioning Battlefield 3 as the true competitor to Activision’s all-conquering Call of Duty series and has succeeded in generating discussion/debate/tribal rivalries between the two sets of fans.
And who said modern populations are becoming immune to advertising techniques?
