Beat Cop announced by This War of Mine devs

The morally dubious cop genre is looking fairly healthy these days, with the upcoming This is the Police and now Beat Cop dealing with compromised police scenarios. 11 bit studios (This War of Mine) and Pixel Crow (an indie team who worked on the Witcher series) are collaborating on this one.

As former detective Jack Kelly (“former” because you were framed for murder), you now go about your work as a beat cop on the streets of Brooklyn. Your boss hates you. Your wife hates you. And the head of the local mafia also hates you. Not a recipe for a happy work life, really.

There’s a definitely 80s theme to this one, as communicated by the Hotline Miami style soundtrack to the game’s trailer. The game’s official site is also promising a non-linear story with multiple endings. You’re out to uncover the truth behind the murder you were framed for; but some evidence might be best left alone.

The FAQ places the release date in late 2016, and says it’ll cost $15.00. Doughnuts (or donuts, if you wish) are also confirmed.
