The Lifetime Achievement Award at the forthcoming Game Developers Conference (GDC) will this year be given to Dr. Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk (pictured,) co-founders of BioWare. The pair co-founded the studio in 1995, with Augustine Yip, and recently departed the company to pursue new interests outside of videogames.

Behind them, they left a legacy of rather decent RPG titles. Baldur’s Gate (and its sequel), Knights of the Old Republic, the Mass Effect series and Dragon Age, to name a few of the more memorable gaming moments.

Since 2008, BioWare has been owned by Electronic Arts.

“There’s no denying the deep footprint Ray and Greg have made, and how much their dedication and leadership will be missed in our industry. We’re proud to honor them with the Lifetime Achievement Award as they parlay into their next careers,” says GDC general manager Meggan Scavio, doffing an imaginary cap.

Former winners of the annual Lifetime Achievement Award include: Warren Spector, Hideo Kojima, Will Wright, John Carmack and Shigeru Miyamoto.

The Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, March 27th at 6:30 pm at the Moscone Convention Center (San Francisco) during GDC 2013.
