Black Ops Named Christmas Number One

As almost everyone expected, Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops has officially been named this year’s Christmas number one.
The Activision shooter, which has been surrounded in controversy due to the number of bugs found in the game, is only the third title (the only two being Modern Warfare 2 and Wii Fit) to ever top the £100 million mark in the UK after the publisher revealed it has now sold over three million copies.
Black Ops has sold over 10 million worldwide, generating an incredible £345 million.
Despite some heavy discounting at a number of retailers, FIFA 11 came second with Need For Speed: Hot Persuit climbing to third.
Contender Gran Turismo 5 didn’t finish as high as many expected, finishing in fifth place behind UbiSoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Broterhood.
“With over 11m video games sold in the last four weeks in the UK, generating over £290m, they are clearly the gift of choice this Christmas, showing once again that the interactive entertainment industry is the UK’s leading creative industry,” UKIE director general Michael Rawlinson stated.
“The Christmas chart also demonstrates the variety of choice on offer for consumers; there really is something for everyone.”
Here’s this year’s 10 best-selling Christmas games in full:-
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops
2. FIFA 11
3. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
4. Just Dance 2
5. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
6. Gran Turismo 5
7. Donkey Kong Country Returns
8. Medal of Honor
9. Wii Fit Plus
10. Professor Layton and the Lost Future
