According to Blizzard, there has been a recent spate of ban hammer action when some players noticed they had shifted up ranks in the Diablo 3 Season 1 leaderboards. Players inquired about the change of positions and Blizzad confirmed that these are “a direct result of a recent ban wave issued for cheating.”

In future Blizzard are going to be monitoring the leaderboards closely and anyone who thinks about cheating with bots, or by whatever means, will find their accounts removed and their listing deleted. Blizzard also say that when this happens they “may not always message when such ban waves occur.”

With the removal of the Auction House you’d think there would be little incentive to cheat but apparently some players still feel the need to do it. Shame on you! Still, it’s good news for players who are playing by the rules and it’s worth checking to see if this latest spate of bannings has helped you rise up the ranks.

On Friday the 13th Season 2 for Diablo 3 gets kicks off and you can keep up to date with all the news and analysis over on Diablo: IncGamers.
