Every now and then, I love it when game names don’t have any pretension and just state exactly what they offer. I mean, would you rather play FIFA 14 or Kicking Balls: Yet Another Annual Update? I know which one would catch my eye in a store. And now Cannons Lasers Rockets is offering you cannons, lasers, and rockets.

Cannons Lasers Rockets is a multiplayer-only space dogfighter that takes place on a 2D plane. Pick one of a whole host of ships, customise it however you like, and then jump into the fray to take on other pilots. It promises simple controls but strategic depth, as well as a wide variety of maps and mission types, plus cross-platform play across PC, Mac, Linux, and those dreadful mobile devices, with a load of tournaments and challenges to capture your attention.

If nothing else, it looks rather pretty. It also heavily reminds me of an old multiplayer-only game, probably for Windows 95, that had you doing top-down 2D dogfighting. I cannot remember what it was called, and this makes me sad.

Cannons Lasers Rockets is currently seeking approval on Greenlight. Head over here to get a closer look at it and decide if it looks like it’s your sort of thing.
