Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now has splattered its way through the releasing-an-old-game red tape (which wasn’t red before Carmageddon passed through) and is now on GOG, available to buy for a mere $9.99.

Carmageddon 2 has lots of gore, a better physics engine, deformable cars, huge amounts of gore, an Iron Maiden soundtrack, ridiculous power-ups, and a stupid amount of gore. It’s not, however, serious: inspiration comes from everything from Twin Peaks to The Blues Brothers. The levels themselves tend to be big, wide-open areas, and can be won by either racing properly, destroying your competition, or murdering every single civilian on the map. You can guess which ones you’ll probably be attempting.

If you’re curious and fancy some car-based carnage, you can do so over here. Alternatively, if you’re unsure if Carmageddon is right for you, GOG and Carmageddon developer Stainless Games are running an AMA (Ask Me Anything) over on Reddit which gives you the chance to ask whatever you like about the game… and gives you the chance to get a free copy of the Carmageddon MAX Pack, as GOG have 50,000 keys to give away.
