Character customisation a priority in Cyberpunk

CD Projekt Red’s Witcher series had a predetermined central character in the form of Geralt of Rivia, and while it was certainly possible to play him in different ways Geralt’s personality and background drove the narrative. For the forthcoming RPG Cyberpunk, CD Projekt will be taking a different approach; allowing far more freedom with customisation and character creation.

“We want to create a game where character customization will be strongly tied with the plot” says community manager Marcin Momot, “We believe that we can make a game where, with many different role choices, you will get a very strong, engaging story, just like it was with The Witcher.”

This will apparently extend to players being able to alter “statistics, equipment, implants and much more” when creating a character in the game.

Momot also confirms that Cyberpunk will focus its story around “Night City”, an iconic location in the original pen and paper version of the RPG.
