Chris Roberts was recently in Aus and he dropped into ABC to explain Star Citizen and how to make cash.
Star Citizen’s crowd funding success has been phenomenal and anyone outside of gaming circles probably has no idea what crowd funding a videogame actually means or how successful it can be.
Chris Roberts dropped into ABC News in Australia to explain the concept and why so many PC gamers have pumped their hard earned cash into Star Citizen over the past couple of years. Chris explained that it’s really down to empowering backers with the ability to decide what gets made in crowd funded projects.
So why did he decide to make Star Citizen? Chris loves creating other worlds but until now he feels that technology has caught up with his vision and the resources are now available. It’s also partyl down to timing and the lack of any large scale space sim titles in the past decade.
Chris also says he’s “no George Clooney” when asked if he’s recognised by fans. He really isn’t too comfortable talking about his fame.
It’s great to see Star Citizen receive more mainstream media coverage which helps the promote PC gaming to the masses.
