Codemasters’ Grid series returns in 2013

After a few nods and winks last week, Codemasters has now officially unveiled Grid 2. Due on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in the summer of 2013, Grid 2 is promising to get your behind the wheel of four decades worth of automobile goodness. You’ll be taking those cars all over the world, from Paris to Miami, and racing them off road, on circuits and through city streets.

In an effort to appeal to as many would-be racing stars as possible, Codemasters says it’s introducing a handling system to the series that will land somewhere “between accessibility and simulation”. Hopefully that’ll please both parties, rather than disappointing each of them.

The all-new ‘RaceNet’ system that Codemasters is incorporating into its titles will be in full effect here, and the developer says multiplayer will have a “unique progression system”. Intriguing.

More precise details will no doubt emerge later, but for now enjoy the announcement trailer.
