Following on from its closed beta, Starlight Inception a space combat title with added planetary combat – has hit Steam Early Access. £15 will net you the current beta version of the game as well as all future updates (including the full version).

Starlight Inception lets you take control of over 30 spacecraft, ranging from fighters and bombers through to transports, as you and the United Star Force fight off the Non-Aligned Nations in deep space and across planetary surfaces. Other than a full single-player campaign there’s a 3D tower defence minigame, full multiplayer (Deathmatch, Capture the Ball, and Football), and the rather nifty ability to wander the corridors of the gigantic USF Midway. I have no idea whether that’ll make a difference to gameplay, but I’ve always wanted to explore a gigantic starship.

No idea when the full version of Starlight Inception is due out, unfortunately, but if you’re really eager to get your hands on some space action now then you can buy into the Early Access here.
