Valve has announced a release date for the free Portal 2 expansion it’s dubbing the “Perpetual Testing Initiative”; which allows players to make their own puzzles. PC and Mac users will be able to mess around with the rather accessible-looking level creation tool from 8 May.
The word is that you’ll be able to “directly publish maps to the Steam Workshop where users can browse, vote on, and select to play them.”
The level creator looks like it could be compatible with gamepads, but at present it’s unclear if the update will be coming the way of Xbox 360 and PS3. Neither 360 nor PS3 has Steam Workshop support, so that could rule it out.
If you missed our Portal 2 review all the way back in April of last year, here it is. We’re quite big fans.
