Variety claims to have insider knowledge on the game’s existence, reporting that Cryptic, who is currently developing two other highly anticipated MMOs ‘Champions Online’ and ‘Star Trek Online’, hopes to release the NWN MMO in 2011.

The original NWN was developed by Bioware back in 2002 and was a massive hit with gamers. The sequel, made by Obsidian Entertainment, came out in 2006 and never quite reached the popularity of the first game.

With BioWare working on the much-hyped Star Wars: The Old Republic, will NWN fans be torn when both games are available to them?

Neither Cryptic or Atari has confirmed the existence of a NWN MMO at this stage, but stay tuned for any more news on the title.
