EA and Crytek teased some big news earlier this week, and as we thought, it was the announcement of the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta.

The beta will be getting underway for all platforms and will feature two team-based modes (there will be eight in total in the final game) and two maps, Airport and Museum, which will showcase the urban jungle environments.

In Crash Site mode players will have to secure and defend a location earning points as they kill and hold the location. Hunter mode is a timed based challenge where two  players will take on fourteen in a match where the two players, armed with enhanced Nanosuits and a Predator bow, will hunt down the opposing CELL troopers . Here’s where it gets interesting, each killed CELL trooper will then change into a Hunter to help eliminate the remaining troopers.

A social feed called the New York Feed will “showcase the accomplishments of gamers and their friends while offering dynamic challenges to complete”.

The beta kicks off on 29 January and the full game hits the shops on 22 February.;
