There’s a new tabletop game adaptation on the way from Cyanide, the developers behind Blood Bowl; Rackham’s Confrontation.
I’m not familiar with this title (unlike Blood Bowl,) but from reading around it appears to be a skirmish-based game where players build a small army of miniatures to battle against one another.
Cyanide plan to translate this as a real-time strategy title, with levelling up elements for your chosen warriors. Or, in press release speak, “Confrontation challenges players to lead a squad of elite soldiers, helping them evolve into a unit that is equal parts brain and brawn.”
The developers are also working on a videogame adaptation of George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels.
I had a bit of a love-hate relationship with their version of Blood Bowl. It took them two attempts to make the game in any way accessible for newer players, and to add all the teams. The Legendary Edition was an improvement, but still had user interface issues and forced fans to essentially buy the same game twice. Let’s hope Confrontation fares better.
