Deus Ex: Mankind Divided PC train station crash bug “under investigation”

Nixxes are looking into instances of crashing after the Prague train station cut-scene in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, as well as other issues that have arisen post-launch. A full run-down of “known issues” and what the studio intends to do about them has been posted on the game’s Steam hub.

For anybody experiencing disappointing frame-rates or performance, Nixxes suggest trying various things. They mostly follow the theme of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided being a pretty demanding game (particularly certain settings), so to make sure you’re trying to run it within parameters that your PC can handle.

MSAA, Contact Hardening Shadows and Volumetric Lighting (at Ultra) are all very taxing settings. If your GPU has 4GB of VRAM then settings should probably only be pushed up to ‘High’ (and not Very High or Ultra). Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your GPU, and enable ‘Exclusive Fullscreen’ in the launcher menu (or in-game). Running in Borderless Windowed mode will eat up a few FPS.

I’ll throw in my own comment here that if you’re just endlessly running the Benchmark trying to hit 60fps with your settings; stop. It’s supposed to be a taxing ‘worst case’ type benchmark, and the game itself will almost certainly run better.

Regarding crashes, a crash on start-up and the aforementioned train station cut-scene crash are both “under investigation”. Nixxes provide a few suggestions for latter that you might want to try to just get beyond that point.

  • Lower the graphic settings
  • Deselect DLC content from the game’s properties in the library
  • Run the game in windowed mode
  • Turn off subtitles

Verify the game cache too (right-click on the game in your Steam library, Properties, Local Files, verify). I’ve read a couple of reports from people suggesting this may have helped with the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided train station situation.

Nixxes are also looking into mouse acceleration problems. Once they track down the source of some of these crashing issues, expect an upcoming patch.
