This weekend is the final weekend that the Diablo 3 patch 2.4.0 PTR servers will be live. Monday 11th is the final day of the test servers and the final Diablo 3 patch 2.4.0 will go live on Tuesday which is Blizzard’s server maintenance day.

Blizzard has already stated that Season 5 will start on Friday 15 January which leaves a short gap between the patch going live and the next Season starting.

Blizzard had stated previously they would ideally prefer at least two weeks after deploying a major patch before a new Season would start to give player time to adapt to the changes. This time there’s a very short period between the patch deploying and the Season starting. Blizzard explained why this is the case for 2.4.0.

“We have a philosophy of launching patches between Season transitions, and not while a Season is currently active. This leaves a window of possible patch dates; sometime between Season 4 ending and Season 5 beginning. We also, typically, deploy patches on Tuesdays (for North America). However, deployment dates can suddenly shift, including down to the last minute. Technology can be a fickle mistress, and unforeseen circumstances can arise.”

Patch 2.4.0 has been teased for some time so its arrival will be welcomed by players next week.
