Chilli Hugger Software’s remake of Doomdark’s Revenge, Mike Singleton’s fantasy-strategy-RPG epic sequel – and yes, for once, I think we can use the word “epic” without cringing – will be released next week. It’ll be out on 17 February, specifically, during the week of what would have been Mike Singleton’s 63rd birthday.

Doomdark’s Revenge is the 1985 sequel to Lords of Midnight, and it sees Luxor the Moonprince trying to rescue his son Morkin and defeat Shareth the Heartstealer. There are all sorts of ways to win, all sorts of factions to either battle or recruit, and all sorts of paths to victory. Or inevitable failure. One or the other. With Shareth also wandering around attempting to recruit people, it’s not as simple as it might be.

Can’t say I was ever a huge fan of the Lords of Midnight series, but it’s vaguely similar to Midwinter in a lot of ways, which is more than enough reason for me to go “Ooh, look, Doomdark’s Revenge is coming out again next week.” You’ll be able to pick it up on GOG for £2.99.
