After licensing the rights to the Longest Journey from Funcom, Red Thread Games are looking for a total of $850,000 to get the game funded. This sum is in addition to the $175,000 grant Dreamfall Chapters has received from the Norwegian Film Institute.

Backing the project could net you some extra goodies such as short stories, a graphic novel, and an official soundtrack, and should you pledge enough, contribute to the game.

“It’s an amazing feeling to have the team back together, and to be able to continue the story,” says Ragnar Tornquist, founder of Red Thread Games and creator of The Longest Journey saga. “We’re hoping there are enough fans of the first two games out there, along with new gamers who want to  play a real adventure game, to meet our Kickstarter goal. We’re relying on crowdfunding to produce the game, and the Kickstarter campaign is incredibly important to us.”

Assuming the campaign is successful, which we think it will be, the game is scheduled for a 2014 release.
