Firaxis “looking into” XCOM 2 performance problems – Patch Soon?

XCOM 2

Many of us will have experienced some issues with XCOM 2‘s performance and Firaxis has been rather quiet on the matter since the game released last week. A post has now appeared on the official forums acknowledging there are issues and that they are currently information gathering before releasing any patches. The statement reads:

“We are aware some players have experienced performance issues while playing XCOM 2, and we are looking into them and gathering more information from users. We want everyone to have the best experience possible, and will continue supporting the title with upcoming patches.”

It sounds like they are pulling all the information together now and a patch will appear soon. It’s odd that many of the problems with XCOM 2 are the same as XCOM and the same tweaks work to fix some of the issues players have been experiencing.

In the post they offer some suggestions on how to improve performance, most of which have already been posted following the game’s release. If you are still having problems, this is what Firaxis suggest:

FAQ: Basic Tech Troubleshooting

Before you post about a potential performance issue, please consult this troubleshooting guide for some simple tips that may mitigate your issue.

· Performance issues

· Ensure you have updated display drivers
– XCOM 2 runs best with the latest AMD or NVidia drivers. Please visit the AMD (https://support.amd.com/en-us/download) or NVIdia (https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx) support pages to ensure your graphic drivers are up to date.

· Check that your hardware meets or exceeds the Min Spec required to play XCOM

· Are you using a laptop with a dedicated graphics card as opposed to the integrated graphics chip?
– Ensure that your system is utilizing the dedicated graphics card and not the integrated one.

· Try turning down Graphic Options/Presets
– In Options/Graphics change the preset from High to Medium or Medium to Low.

· Try turning down Anti-Aliasing
