Guacamelee! Gold Edition hits Steam with launch trailer, freebies

I’ve been wrestling (DO YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE) with review code for Guacamelee! Gold Edition over the past few days, and I’ve been having a rather jolly time with its Mexican-themed Metroidvania antics.

I’d obviously suggest waiting for our review – which’ll probably be turning up tomorrow – but I thought I’d let you know that the game is out today on Steam, complete with a couple of little bonuses. And you have no idea how hard it is to write this news item without using up my entire arsenal of Guacamelee! puns before I write the review.

Anyway! For one thing, if you buy it before 15 August, you get 10% off the price (which should be somewhere in the region of $15 USD/£12 GBP, otherwise). For another, you’ll supposedly get a free Steam code for Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack. I say “supposedly”, because there’s no mention made of this on the Steam page. Perhaps it’ll be updated when the game unlocks in Europe in a couple of hours.

Oh yes! And there’s a cheerful launch trailer, too. You can have a look at that below.
