Guitar Hero Franchise Hits $2 Billion USD Mark

The Guitar Hero franchise has passed the $2 billion USD mark. The news comes from the Activision-Blizzard earnings call, in response to a question regarding the “appetite for consumption” in the music games genre.Robert A. Kotick, president and CEO of Activision-Blizzard, responded by stating that “The Guitar Hero franchise in fact this quarter surpassed the $2 billion [USD] mark and was only the third franchise in the history of gaming beside Super Mario and Madden to achieve that milestone.”The franchise is standing extremely strong, then, and looks to improve. As previously reported, DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5, and Band Hero are due out this year, and the franchise appears to be doing well compared to Rock Band, with Kotick commenting that they’ve “seen a rather precipitous fall-off of that franchise.”
