What do you do when the game you want won’t be released in your region? Pirate it of course.

If you’ve been following the news today, Hotline Miami 2 was refused classification in Australia which sparked a response from publisher Devolver Digital. Whether you agree with the decision or not, there are Australian gamers that want to play it.

A frustrated gamer fired a mail over the to the developers, which was verified on Twitter to be legit, and the response was not quite what you’d expect. When asked how the game could be obtained in Australia, Dennaton Games’ Jonaton Soderstrom replied:

“If it ends up not being released in Australian just pirate it after release. No need to send us any money just enjoy the game!”

I think that’s one of the few occasions I have seen a developer tell a customer to “just pirate it”, but what other options are there? Not many. I guess that could be the only response when your hands are tied as they are in this case. Nice to see Jonaton not asking for money because it could prove a little difficult if stacks of Aussie gamers decided they wanted to send cash.

Remember kids, it’s never a good idea to pirate games, unless the developer/publisher approves as is the case here.
