IncGamers Dota 2 guild gets bigger, plans move to Final Fantasy 14

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but we here at IncGamers have a Dota 2 guild. It opened back at the end of July, and… well, we’ve been growing in size and doing fairly well.

Right now, we’re sat on 63 members, with a bunch more on my friends list who need to send me messages saying “Hello, can I have an invite please” so that I remember to add them. We’ve got people from all over the world – North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia – and of all skill levels, ranging from complete newbies to those who are ludicrously good. In short, if you’re not a screaming arsehole, chances are good that we’ve got a place for you.

We’ve done some in-house matches, we’ve arranged some 5-man groups for matchmaking, and we’ve done a few practice bot matches with newer members to help them get to grips with things. We’re doing well.

If you want to join us, all you have to do is add me to your friends list on Steam and then send me a message.

However, I’m not just writing this to pimp the guild. We’ve got plans, and this seems like a good place to put them up.

Firstly: once Gamescom is over and I have a bit of time to devote to it, I’ll be setting up a forum where we can schedule and arrange little events, as well as get some discussions going to try to build a more cohesive feeling within the guild (as right now people pretty much only talk to those on at the same time as them).

Secondly: guild member Titan has asked me to relay his plans to put together a regular game for newbies (plus any old hands wanting to help mentor them) every week. If you’ve got a headset and mic, you’re welcome along. Titan has alerted me that he’s usually on between 10pm to 1am, UK time, so you can hopefully catch up with him then in guild chat. Alternatively, leave a comment below.

Thirdly: We’ve got enough members planning on playing Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn that we’ll also be starting up a guild on that. We’ve heard tell that both US and Europe servers are hosted in Canada, meaning there’s no appreciable lag difference, but we’ll be testing this once Early Access begins. If you want to join up with us on there, we’ll either be on EU Cerberus or NA Cactuar. Check back over the weekend and I’ll know for sure, so you might not want to spend too much time levelling your characters before we’ve got that sorted.

Thanks to all guild members so far who’ve helped make the guild a generally entertaining and helpful place to be, and hello to any prospective new guild members wanting to sign up.

Tim has been playing PC games for longer than he's willing to admit. He's written for a number of publications, but has been with PC Invasion - in all its various incarnations - for over a decade. When not writing about games, Tim can occasionally be found speedrunning terrible ones, making people angry in Dota 2, or playing something obscure and random. He's also weirdly proud of his status as (probably) the Isle of Man's only professional games journalist.
