Indie Bundle Tops $1 Million USD, Extends Offer

Undeterred by piracy, the Humble Indie Bundle has raised more than $1 million USD from 121,096 contributors.

The total right now stands at $1,103,308 USD, which translates to a massive $341,655 USD share for the Child’s Play and Electronic Frontier Foundation charities. It also amounts to over $150,000 USD for each of the five indie developers who contributed a game to the original bundle.

Not at all bad for a pay-what-you-like scheme, and perhaps something of a vindication of the decision to release all of the games on Windows, Mac and Linux without any trace of DRM.

In celebration, the Indie Bundle offer has been extended for several more days and the titles Aquaria, Gish, Lugaru HD, and Penumbra Overture will soon be going open source. That is to say, the underlying code will be available to anybody who wants it.
