The fate of the Homefront IP has been decided as Koch acquire the brand from Crytek.

Crytek has been struggling financially and it was uncertain what would happen to Homefront: The Revolution which was announced earlier this year. The news today is that Koch has acquired the Homefront IP and all content assets from Crytek and formed a new development studio in Nottingham called Deep Silver Dambuster Studios to continue the game’s development.

“We are thrilled to see another great IP joining the Deep Silver universe,” says Dr. Klemens Kundratitz. “We strongly believe in the potential of Homefront: The Revolution and trust in the new team to continue the path we have been walking in the last years.”

Crytek picked up the Homefront license in the post THQ collapse and gave it to their Nottingham office (formerly Free Radical, of TimeSplitters fame). Deep Silver were already handling the publishing duties for Homefront: The Revolution and they obviously feel confident enough with the game to take on the whole project.

Some great news there for anyone who’s been looking forward to a new Homefront so let’s hope that Koch can deliver a quality title. That last Homefront didn’t exactly perform well and contributed to the demise of THQ.
