Koch Media not for sale, says Deep Silver

Deep Silver have unequivocally denied rumours that Koch Media is up for sale. Which is interesting, not least because I haven’t heard any rumours that Koch Media is up for sale.

Apparently, though, someone over there did, because it triggered the following response:

We have seen a recent report suggesting Koch Media is for sale. We are happy to say that Koch Media (including its premium games publishing label Deep Silver) is well-financed, profitable, and a stable and growing business in the entertainment industry.

Independent companies like us understandably attract interest.

As a matter of fact, we ourselves are always on the lookout for responsible acquisition opportunities in the fields of publishing and distribution to accelerate our growth. But we are not for sale.

The “we are not for sale” seems pretty clear, at least. These rumours might be linked to the recent rumours around Crytek’s financial woes (being published by Deep Silver), but even that seems like a stretch.

Deep Silver are the prolific video game development and publishing arm of German media giant Koch Media, and are responsible for a whole lot of games you’ve probably heard of. Dead Island, the Metro series, Sacred 3, and Saints Row 4 are all in their stable, along with far, far more.
