Mechwarrior Online revealed by Piranha

Much-rumoured, but now confirmed. Mechwarrior Online will be here in summer 2012.
Developed by Piranha Games, the title will be a free-to-play multiplayer game with an emphasis on teamwork and tactical battles. Multiple teams and multiple ‘lances’ (four-person squads) will be supported, along with Mechwarrior staples like overheating lasers and rubbish turning circles.
Piranha are also eager to stress that although there will be a store where players can buy items with real money, none of these items will give a tactical or combat advantage. Those things you have to earn by playing the game.
More information is promised in the coming weeks and months, but for now you can head over to the game’s official site where you can do things like reserving a pilot name or read an early FAQ.
Mechwarrior Online will be released for the PC next summer.
