Metal Gear Troll-id: Kojima vaguely optimistic on PC Metal Gear Solid 5, maybe

Oh, that Hideo Kojima. Is he telling the truth about Kiefer Sutherland playing Snake? Is David Hayter really not involved in any capacity? Is Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain really going to be his last Metal Gear Solid game, considering he’s said that about 14 times before? And, more importantly, is it actually coming to PC?

On that very topic, Gametrailers were given a positive response that’s also negative. Hnng. Is being clear that hard?

According to Kojima (through a translator): “Of course, we are developing on a PC, so we look forward to releasing something on the PC sometime, but right now we don’t have a release date. We aren’t really looking to do that right now; that’s not our priority. So we are making it, and we hope to put it out as well.”

So, if I understand correctly… it’s being made on PC. They’re making a PC version. They’re hopeful that they’ll be able to release the PC version. But they’re not looking to do a PC version right now.

At a guess, I’d take that to mean “Yeah, it’s coming, but we’re not talking about it until after the console versions are out,” but your guess is as good as mine. That, or this is another wonderful Kojima troll and MGS5 is actually a PC exclusive that isn’t coming to consoles at all.

Were it any other developer that would’ve been throwaway sarcasm, but this is Kojima. For crying out loud, he tried to make us think Metal Gear Solid 5 was an entirely different game by an entirely different studio. Anything could happen. You might buy the game and it has a squid instead of a disc. The main character is actually Solid Roy Chubby Brown. This is all faked footage and he’s actually working on Zone of the Enders 3. I repeat: anything could happen.

Sigh. I’m starting to think that if Peter Molyneux and Hideo Kojima collaborated on a game, the universe would end.
