Oddworld: Abe’s Oddyssee HD will launch during the summer of 2013, a post on the Oddworld Inhabitants Facebook page has revealed.
Previously, it was thought that the game would be a straight HD re-release of the original. However, it has been revealed that that is not the case and the new game will actually be “NEW” and will use the “original as a blueprint.”
“OK so here’s the skinny on “Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee…” reads the Facebook post.
“We decided to reboot it, not just an HD update to the original PS1 title, this is a NEW game. It will be getting its first public showing LATER this year, with a release date of NEXT summer (2013).
“To extra clarify, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee HD, it is a remake of the original PS1 title, however we have started it from scratch using the original as a blueprint….OK?”
