Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Intro Video

Codemasters has released a new video for Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. The Intro video details the turbulent history of the game’s setting, the Pacific island of Skira. Codies has put together a nice potted history of the fictional island, which was initially claimed by the Chinese in 1409. In 1610 the Japanese colonised the south of the island while the Russians did the same to the North in 1700.  After losing the entire island to the Japanese in 1905, the Russians re-seized it at the end of World War Two and, following the discovery of oil on the island during the subsequent Cold War, China once again set its sights on Skira. This sets up the conflict between the Chinese PLA forces and the alliance between the Russians and the USA which dominates the storyline of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. The game is due for release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 9 October. In the meantime, check out our preview and developer interview.
