Path of Exile Raises $200,000 over Easter

Last week developer Grinding Gear Games launched their Path of Exile pre-order/supporter packages and over the Easter weekend they rasied a whopping $200,000 after six days of the promotion being live.
13,000 fans dipped in their pockets to support the game and 13 people opted in for the largest $1000 package and they will now help design one of the game’s unique magic items.
“The crowd-funding presales mean Path of Exile will enter Open Beta in June with three acts of content.  Although we plan to pile on the content for years to come, further support will greatly accelerate it and help pay for our US and European servers.”
“Selling supporter packs and currency has also been a great test of our ‘ethical microtransaction’ philosophy.  We hate the concept of pay-to-win games, so it’s great to see that players are willing to support the game and to buy purely cosmetic items,”  said CEO Chris Wilson.
The supporter packs come in various denominations so fans can chip in for a slittle as $10. The boost to finances now means that GGG are well on their way to launching what is looking to be one of the best free to play online ARPGs arounds.
The golden Kiwi is one of the pets supporters can obtain and this is what he looks like in-game…
