Pillars of Eternity 1.03 details, patch in QA and due “soon”

A hefty set of patch notes for the upcoming 1.03 release of Pillars of Eternity have been published over at the Obsidian forums. This patch is said to be in QA testing at present and will be released “as soon as possible,” according to the post itself.

As previously reported, this patch will address the Pillars of Eternity stats bug that affected characters and companions who’d equipped items or weapons with a double-click. The bug where characters could be given permanent stat boosts in certain circumstances will be fixed in 1.03 as well. Both of these will be retroactive, so you’ll be able to load up your current (or old) saves and have characters behaving properly.

Other “big ticket” fixes include sorting out a crash bug in Raedric’s Hold, getting rid of the unfortunate audio loop bugs which could occur, and the intriguing sentence “Bears and Cats can now be equipped with hats. This is most likely not a joke… but might be a joke.”

Balance-wise, the inevitable Mind Blades nerf is happening – and Arbalest damage is being reduced too. Pillars of Eternity 1.03 will add an anti-aliasing option to the graphics menu, so people with PC performance issues will be able to remove AA if necessary. There’ll also be “new voice set reactivity for lockpick, poison, enemy spotted in stealth, spell failure, death, immobilized, and completed tasks.”

For the full picture, I recommend reading the entire changelog. Plenty of good stuff in there.
