If you were one of the people who stumped up enough pledge cash to be included in a Pillars of Eternity beta, you’ll be able to get playing from 18 August. That’s according to the most recent update post from Obsidian.
More specific details about that beta are promised in the next update.
Production on the full game is also moving on towards a late 2014/early 2015 release. Here’s what lead producer Brandon Adler has to say about their progress.
With production moving into the finalization phase for Eternity, the team and I are hunkering down to finish up the game over the next few months. Going forward, we will be spacing out our backer updates a bit more from now until the project ships. They’ll come a bit less predictably, but you can still expect updates as we have big announcements or special news for you.
In addition to those details, the bulk of the post is about some of the lovely creatures you’ll be meeting around Pillars of Eternity’s realms. There’s a render video of the Blights (lost souls who have bonded with elemental substances like wind or rain.)
There’s a similar video render of the Xaurip too. This guys are reptilian humanoids.
Finally, there are some images of the Vithrack; “very dangerous creatures with natural cipher powers.”
