Stalker 2 cancelled, GSC closes down

GSC Game World, the team responsible for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise, has confirmed its own closure. That, of course, means that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is also no more.
Trouble had been brewing at GSC for a long time, but the studio was seemingly managing to valiantly hold on and continue work on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 despite the problems.
If S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 does eventually see the light of day, it will not be completed by GSC as we knew it.
The GSC team has now set up Vostok Games, a brand new studio working on Survarium, a free-to-play MMO first-person shoot set in the ‘Zone’ in which S.T.A.L.K.E.R. takes place.
“The concept of Survarium is a next evolution step for the idea of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. we’ve been working on for the last ten years,” said project director Ruslan Didenko.
