To celebrate two years of service, Star Conflict is receiving more updates including Oculus Rift support immersing players in their cockpits for the first time. There are also massive discounts being applied to in-game purchases and there’s free premium account access for everyone between 3-7 April. Stanislav Skorb, Director, Star Gem also mentions that Linux support is being added.
“We believe that gamers need as many options as possible. Our goal is to provide them with freedom of choice to pick which operating system better suits their needs. Thanks to our new update Star Conflict supports all popular operating systems: Windows, Mac OS and now Linux (through Steam). And Linux support means that in the future Star Conflict will be available on all gaming platforms based on this OS.” – said Star Gem Inc.
Star Gem’s Star Conflict works in a similar way to Gaijin’s War Thunder. Although it’s called an MMO, it’s not really an MMO but instead it’s more a multiplayer space combat title against other players with microtransactions bolted on. The addition of Rift support should be an interesting experience but it won’t give you an edge. This is a tricky game to master if you’re a new player.
