Iceberg Interactive has announced that Arkavi Studios’ Star Lords is now available on Steam Early Access. And no, it has nothing to do with Mike Singleton’s Starlord.
Star Lords lets you take control of one of eight races – each of whom have their own traits, abilities, technologies, and ship designs – and use them to forge a galactic empire. Other than your competitors, there are pirate clans and small independent races making their home in the galaxy, and you’ll have to use a mix of turn-based combat (with hexes!), diplomacy, trade, and intrigue to give your empire an advantage.
Star Lords claims to offer a randomly generated universe, tech tree, and units each time, as well as “human-like AI” and hotseat multiplayer. It sounds promising, but I’ve been burned by impressive-sounding 4X titles before. Master of Orion 3, you broke my heart.
