Streamer completes insane Halo 2 challenge for the $20,000 reward

A 'legendary' feat.

These days, it seems that every difficult video game challenge out there has been completed by someone. You may wonder if anyone has ever finished a particularly difficult game without, say, taking any damage, only to immediately find a video of someone doing just that. But there are still challenges out there that have proven so monstrously hard that it has taken several years for someone to complete them. This remained true for a certain Halo 2 challenge, which a streamer by the name of Jervalin recently beat, receiving a whopping $20,000 prize reward.

This gargantuan challenge involved beating Halo 2 on Legendary difficulty, the highest difficulty setting, without dying once. On its own, this already seems like an impressive accomplishment. What makes the challenge that much harder, though, is that the player has to have all Skulls (with the exception of the Envy Skull) enabled throughout the run.

What are Skulls in Halo 2?

For those who do not know, Skulls in Halo 2 function as collectible Easter eggs that make the game more difficult in some way when activated. For example, one Skull allows enemies to see right through the player’s camouflage, while another cuts the ammo enemies provide by half.

Jervalin managed to accomplish this seemingly impossible challenge on August 3, and he streamed his entire playthrough on Twitch for about seven hours. As far as we know, this is the first and only time that anyone has achieved a no-death Legendary run of Halo 2 with all Skulls turned on. Charlie ‘Cr1tikal’ White, a popular streamer, was the one who offered the $20,000 bounty after seeing the challenge go uncompleted.

It remains remarkable that no one has finished this Halo 2 challenge until now. But it goes to show how the immense dedication players need in order to complete games under the most extreme conditions possible.
