Stronghold Crusader 2 won’t be breaching Steam’s walls until late September – which isn’t a huge delay, as it was originally due in early September.

Following on from feedback received in the closed beta, Firefly Studios have decided that the castle-building strategy game needs a bit more polish, so Stronghold Crusader 2 has been delayed until 23 September. Which is probably a good thing, considering Stronghold 3.

And Firefly’s Simon Bradbury agrees! “Our closed beta gave us vital feedback from the Stronghold community and the Crusader 2 team feels that the game needs more polish before we release it,” he said, adding “We love being in control of our own destiny, unlike with Stronghold 3, and not being forced to release a game too early.”

I would imagine that most will be happy if these extra few weeks result in a significantly better game, so I don’t think people are too likely to complain about this. I suppose the real question is whether or not that’s enough of a delay to make a big difference – but Firefly seem pretty optimistic, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Stronghold Crusader 2 is now due out on 23 September.
